SOCIAL
MISSION
NEW BETHANY MINISTRIES:

At Fig, we believe in the power of a community that works together
to identify needs and find solutions-one that creates community
connections and is passionate about helping its neighbors. We believe in
the mission of New Bethany Ministries-our 2016 Social Mission Partner.
Please consider giving to them with your dollars and your time this year.

a place to call home

At New Bethany Ministries, our mission is to provide opportunities for a secure
future to the hungry, homeless, poor, and mentally ill of the Lehigh Valley. One
of the ways we accomplish this mission is by providing housing programs for the
homeless in our community. Through our Transitional Housing and Permanent
Affordable Housing programs, those we serve learn how to maintain self-sufficiency
while working toward long-term goals like building savings, advancing their
education, and achieving full-time employment. Maintaining dignity and boosting
self-esteem are critical to this success, so making these dwelling units home for
our residents is important.

Our Housing Programming encompasses
four main services:
TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM: This program
provides 13 units of short-term, case-managed
transitional housing for homeless families (both single
and two-parent families) referred by Northampton and
Lehigh Counties, and with the assistance of local service
providers. Our Transitional Housing Program is one of
the very few programs that keep families intact as they
work toward solving their homelessness (most Lehigh
Valley organizations house dad separately from mom
and the children). Annually, our Transitional Housing
Program is home to more than 100 children.
RESTORATION HOUSE PROGRAM: This program
provides 10 apartment units of long-term, case-managed
transitional housing for homeless families, requiring
enrollment and completion of an educational program
(both single and two-parent families). Additional goals
of this program include increasing income and securing
permanent housing. Our Restoration House Program has
over a 75% success rate in achieving these goals.
WYANDOTTE AFFORDABLE HOUSING APARTMENTS:
This program provides 7 apartments for low-income
families, most of whom are graduates of the transitional
housing programs of New Bethany Ministries.
SINGLE ROOM OCCUPANCY PROGRAM: This program
operates in three locations, providing case-managed
single room occupancy housing for low-income adult
men and women (housing that is generally reserved
for men or women), most of whom suffer from mental
illness, disability, and/or emotional trauma.
South Bethlehem: 15 single room occupancy units
Columbia House: 20 single room occupancy units
subsidized through Lehigh County Housing and one
Section 8 apartment in Coplay, PA.
Grace House: Opened April 2011. Provides 6
single room occupancy units in Allentown, PA for
chronically homeless adult men and women, in
partnership with the Lehigh County Conference of
Churches and Grace Episcopal Church.
